David Leroy Dawson, 65 of Canterbury Drive, Conover died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 26, 1944 in Robeson County he was the son of the late Thomas Rudolph & Sally Revel Inman Dawson. Mr. Dawson served in the 7th Special Forces for 6 years, was a member of Tri City Baptist Church. He loved his family, church and his Savior, Jesus Christ.
His wife of 39 years, Patricia Lee Goans Dawson of the home; three step-daughters, Patricia & (James) Ludden of Cleburne, Texas, Janet & (Danny) Tyner of Fayetteville, NC, Mary & (Jessie) Williams of Hickory, NC; two step-sons, Jimmie West & (Sandy) of Borger, Texas, Kenneth West & girlfriend (Cathy) of Hickory, NC; a sister, Becky & (Alfred) Pittman of Lumberton; three brothers, Tommy & (Bonnie) Dawson of Parkton, NC, Billy & (Faye) Dawson of Burgaw, NC, Johnny Dawson of Hope Mills, NC; 15 grand-children and 18 great-grand children survive him.
A brother, Willie Dawson, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be 12:00 noon Monday, August 2, 2010 at Tri-City Baptist Church. The Rev. Ruffin Snow will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 11:00am-12:00pm at the church.
